Muller...

I decided to check Muller out first as they are the main competitors to Quaker. I know the new product would be on the same shelf area as Mullerice, hence me looking at their existing packaging.

As it happens Muller have recently redesigned their pots from this....

The change is dramatic and definitely an improvement! The new packaging uses a smaller brand logo and focuses more on the rice, however you still read the branding clearly. Also the new packaging has health values included on the lid, this shows they are trying to target a new market as well as keep their existing customers. From a design point-of-view, the colours and layout have a lot of shelf impact and are more modern and simple. It is more like the Jordan's muesli idea and I think it works well. This also shows that bright colours can be used and does not look fake.

Below is a screenshot of the mullerice page and you can see more of the range. As a series I think they work really well as the only things changing from pot to pot are the colours, flavour details and the image of fruit on the lid.


Definitely need to keep this design in mind as Quaker Oats are going to be competing against them on the shelf.
