Old brand and packaging advertising

I need to get an understanding of the way in which packaging was advertised years ago. So as a result I have found this website where they have a digital catalog of old adverts. Below are just two examples I have selected.


I am interested in using illustrations in this brief and feel it would be right for the kind of period I am trying to capture. I am also finding that borders are important in the poster design section (as can be seen in the two examples).

As well as looking into this area more I also need to investigate type and fonts that would be appropriate for my designs.
