research...

I am about to start the 'festive leeds: design a bag brief' so decided to have a look at some existing christmas designs. Most of these are on cards/wrapping paper but I still think they are relevant.

Most of the images in this blog are from....http://printpattern.blogspot.com/ a blog I absolutely love!!

Simple and effective, the colours work well together and create a strong overall image. Not sure I like the tree stump but that is just me being picky!!

A classical and simple pair of designs here. I am really drawn to the triangular chirstmas tree, this could be something I develop into my design for the bag. Looking at the colours I think the left one works as it is mainly gold with a highlight of black, however I believe the one on the right is a bit too dark for a christmas card. Unless the shapes are not snowflakes but stars instead? In which case it would make more sense?

Love the simple pattern and font on the left one. Think it works really well and the shape allows for easy repetition. Something this simple could work really well on the bags, however I could look at making the pattern more obvious - add typical christmas shapes and objects.

Think this is a clever design, however I do not want to go down this design route with my designs. I think the type is a bit bold and childlike. I want to capture a more grown-up, sophisticated design.

Interested in the shapes on the snowflakes, would like to develop this further - look at patterns of the snowflakes, maybe make a type out of them? Definitely investigate further though.

Love this design! So simple, effective, eye-catching and strong. I personally do not like the type used for the message, however the image makes up for it! I do not think this is right for my brief and design ideas. However I just had to include it!

Again, pattern is key in this design. I definitely want to develop this style, whether it is with type/snowflakes/x-mas trees or anything else!
